Filtering
Filters narrow your data by path, referrer, device, country, event, and more. The date range and filters you set on a website apply across that site’s reports—overview, sessions, funnel, etc. Segments and cohorts build on the same fields to group users and look at retention over time.
What you can filter on
- Path — URL path.
- Page Title — HTML title of the page.
- Referrer — Where the visit came from.
- Browser — Chrome, Safari, Firefox, etc.
- OS — Windows, macOS, iOS, Android, etc.
- Device — Desktop, tablet, mobile.
- Country — From IP geolocation.
- Region — State, province, or similar.
- City.
- Hostname — Domain the page was loaded on.
- Tag — Any
data-tagyou’ve set. - Event — Your custom events (clicks, submits, etc.).
Filters apply everywhere
Once you set a date range and filters on a website, they stay in effect for that site’s overview, sessions, funnels, and other reports until you change or clear them.
Where to find them
Go to Websites → View for the site. At the top you’ll see the date picker and filter controls.
Adding a filter
Click Filter and pick a field and value. Or, from the overview, click a row in one of the metric cards—that often suggests a filter from that value. Active filters are listed at the top; remove them to broaden the data again.
